MY TRAVELS IN
Austria
When to go?
Winter
Winter in Austria is cold everywhere. In Vienna, the capital, the average temperature in January is 0 °C, but in the hill towns and valleys between the mountains, even lower values can be recorded.
Snow is quite frequent everywhere, except in the plains around Vienna, where it is rarer.
Summer
In Austria is hot during the day (maximums are around 25/27 degrees in Vienna and the other main cities), with generally cool nights. The morning is often sunny, while thunderstorms can break out in the afternoon, which are more frequent in mountainous areas.
Sometimes there can be very hot and muggy days, especially in the Vienna area, with minimums above 20 °C and maximums above 30 °C.
Spring
While there is still snow in the mountains and skiers are taking advantage of the last few weeks to ski, in the valleys spring is already making itself felt.
In March, at night and in the early morning the temperature can still go below zero, while during the day it reaches around 10° C. Soon the snow melts to give way to spring. In May it reaches 20° C and you can start having coffee at the outdoor tables of the bar.
Autumn
Has a cool and pleasant temperature (although it can sometimes get cold at night), and thunderstorms are rarer than in summer.
In autumn, starting from October, mists and fogs are frequent.
